Ongoing Projects

OT-CRAft

Duration: 2026 - 2029
Funding: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWE)
Partners: Technische Hochschule Augsburg, Digitales Zentrum Schwaben (DZ.S)

The focus project OT-CRAft prepares small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for growing cyber threats and regulatory requirements such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). It concentrates on operational technology (OT), i.e. Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) products and networked production facilities. The goal is to enable companies to build up industrial security know-how on their own.

To this end, the project develops a digital learning platform with real industrial components, online courses, practical recommendations, and web-based and hands-on tools. Public outreach and networking activities carry the results to a wider audience.

Network Lab for Pentesting and Security Research (NLPSeR)

Duration: since 2025
Partners: Technische Hochschule Augsburg

NLPSeR is an internal teaching project at Technische Hochschule Augsburg. The project develops a virtual penetration testing environment for courses, provided as a virtual machine.

Students can use it to practice the fundamental techniques of penetration testing hands-on, from exploring a network and finding vulnerabilities to exploiting them. Since the entire environment runs on their own VM, they can experiment safely without putting other systems at risk, and work on the exercises at any time, independently of the university network.

KI-Produktionsnetzwerk

Duration: 2021 - 2025
Funding: Bayerische Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie und Bayerische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst
Partners: Technische Hochschule Augsburg, Fraunhofer IGCV, DLR, Universität Augsburg

The goal of the KI-Produktionsnetzwerk (AI Production Network) is to research novel AI concepts and technologies for manufacturing. Through a joint network of numerous research partners and economic development networks, the results flow directly into industrial applications.

THA_innos participates in this project as a research partner and develops innovative AI-based methods for detecting vulnerabilities in industrial devices.
