The HSA_innolab enables students to work on innovative projects with external partners. Agile software and system development methods are used. Together with the partners, solutions to current issues of digitization are created.

The project ideas come from different sources (e.g. companies, participating students or inquiries from the Augsburg area).

Students of all computer science courses as well as the courses in interactive media and interactive media systems can use the HSA_innolab in various modules:

  • as part of the semester projects (4th/6th semester, master's projects)
  • in the context of student research projects that are carried out in groups
  • in the context of research projects

To support the digitalization process in Bavaria, the state government of Bavaria has launched the Bayern Digital future strategy. As part of this initiative, ten innovation laboratories at colleges and universities were selected and supported in a competitive process. The HSA_innolab is one of these selected laboratories.

Agile prototyping is a method in software development that quickly leads to initial results with the strong involvement of clients and customers. In the early stages of development, the prototypes can be examined for their applicability, feedback can be obtained from users and corrections can be made if necessary.

Economic representatives, innovators, research institutions, and pulse generators in the region can contact HSA_innolab with innovative questions. The topics are examined for their feasibility and solutions are developed as prototypes within the framework of student projects within one semester.

Examples of topics are digitization of business processes, security, mobility, robotics, networks or e-health.
