Objectives
The growing processing speeds, for example in digital and computer technology or in power electronics working with short pulses, measurement methods in high-frequency technology (HF technology) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMV) have now become standard in many areas of electrical engineering. A sound knowledge of these measurement methods is therefore very important for each and every electrical engineer. The laboratory equipment is there to support teaching, research and consulting in the field of HF-technology and EMV.
Teaching
Lab courses teach students the most important HF-measuring systems using practical examples. Big projects allow students to use the EMV-equipment of the laboratory in order to check the interference immunity of self-developed devices. The research assistants in the Institute THA_ired organize the developer evening and operate the university’s amateur radio station DFØTHA in the laboratory.
Research
The High Frequency Systems Working Group at THA_ired uses the laboratory to carry out its externally funded research projects. The research work enables application-oriented project and final theses by students and doctoral theses by research assistants.
