Knowledge Targets

Students are familiar with integration theories and various important economic and policy areas of the EU. Furthermore, they know about the core goals, important institutions and the decision- making procedures of the EU.

 

Capabilities

Students can analyse and discuss recent economic and political developments in the EU on the background of integration theories.

Professional skills

Students are able to evaluate different European policy options with their impact on the development of the EU in various policy fields.

  • Institutions of the EU and the decision-making process in the EU
  • Integration theories: Theoretical background of the European integration process
  • Convergence or divergence of the European countries
  • The European monetary union on the background of the theory of optimum currency areas
  • The Euro and a common monetary policy
  • European integration and labour markets
  • EU competition and state aid policy
  • EU common agricultural policy
  • EU regional policy
  • EU environmental and climate policy
  • The EU and the world trading system
