Possibility of subsidized family leave

 

The Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs subsidizes one family vacation per year for low-income families.

The most important prerequisites for this are:

  • The application for funding must be submitted before booking a family holiday resort and at least three weeks before the start of the family holiday.
  • The family’s main residence is Bavaria.
  • This is a joint family vacation. The definition of "family" is very broad here. It's important to note that grandparents can also take the family vacation with their grandchildren if the parents cannot travel for an important reason (e.g., illness). Booking a vacation for children alone is not possible.
  • Bookings can only be made at one of the listed family holiday resorts (see list).
  • The vacation must be at least 6 days, with a maximum of 14 days eligible.
  • The subsidized vacation days cannot be split.
  • The family must participate in a parent and family education program.
  • The funding is linked to the family’s income.
