Agile Women Alliance

Platform for Women in IT Who Work Agilely

Ulrike Strauss founded the Agile Women Alliance (AWA), the first German platform for women working in IT using agile methods. The AWA offers community and networking opportunities, coaching, and training to help women advance professionally and prepare them for a sustainable career. The goal is to support women in performing their jobs professionally and confidently.

Professional Background
: Ulrike has many years of experience as a senior project manager and Scrum Master in corporate and IT environments. She has been unemployed since April 1, 2024, and plans to apply for a startup grant starting in January 2025.

Biggest Challenge
Scaling the network, which currently has over 1,200 women, and organizing events while simultaneously starting a business and developing the business plan.

Superwoman Power: “Connecting
People”—Ulrike excels at bringing people together and inspiring them with her vision.

Tip for Other Female Founders
: Start with an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to test whether your idea resonates with people. Don’t waste too much time on details like business structure, name, or design in the beginning—those will become more important later on.
