Strategic Realignment and Business Model Development at the Freie Kunst Akademie Augsburg
Background
- Training as a teacher of arts and technology (2015–2019)
- Teacher training and completion of the second state examination (2019–2021)
- Studied Communication Design at THA (2021–2025)
- Freelance work as an artist throughout all stages of training
- Freelance graphic designer and artist (since 2022)
Motivation
: The opportunity to take over a business in Augsburg prompted me to find out whether there were any resources available in the fields of business administration and entrepreneurship. A professor brought HerVenture to my attention.
Business
Idea: The idea is to modernize the existing company, the Freie Kunst Akademie Augsburg, with new ideas and fresh approaches, and to make it appealing to a young artist audience.
The problem that needs to be solved for the young target audience is the issue of financing, as the current program is rather expensive and is therefore primarily attended by clients who are either already retired or can afford the course from their regular income.
The idea is currently in the concept and prototyping phases. In addition to an existing, large, established classroom—which will continue to be used for courses—a smaller classroom is to be established at the beginning of 2026. This space will host courses, workshops, and events actively tailored to young artists and creatives.
A broader course program at the Freie Kunst Akademie Augsburg is intended to generate sociocultural value for Augsburg. Furthermore, a vibrant network will be created through various collaborations with other companies in Augsburg’s cultural sector.
Goals
: With the help of the HerVenture Program, I would like to develop the concept for this new course space, test it, and implement it by 2026. Through dialogue with the young target audience, the needs and desires for this cultural and artistic space will be assessed and incorporated into the design. At the same time, existing business structures will be assessed for their future viability and adjusted accordingly.
