On December 16, 2021, Helmut Selder, a former professor in the Department of Computer Science at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and dean of the Faculty of General Sciences, passed away at the age of 86.

Helmut Selder had been a lecturer at the Rudolf Diesel Polytechnic since October 1961, one of the predecessor institutions of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (today: Augsburg University of Applied Sciences). With the founding of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences on August 1, 1971, he became a university instructor and was appointed professor on December 1, 1978.

In addition to his teaching duties, Prof. Selder served as dean of the Faculty of General Sciences (including computer science) in the 1980s and was the long-time director of the Computer Center until his retirement in 2000.
