Dr. -Ing. Nayab Bushra is a professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. She is an expert in the digital transformation of the construction industry, with several years of academic and industry experience. Her interdisciplinary expertise bridges civil engineering, systems thinking, sustainable building design, parametric and generative design methods, energy simulation, data science, AI, and extended reality technologies—including virtual, augmented, and mixed reality—along with advanced digital tools and techniques. She sees digitalization as a transformative force in engineering, enabling not only individual creativity through computational tools but, more importantly, fostering integrated and collaborative design across disciplines. She earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin, where she developed generative design frameworks facilitating early-stage design of sustainable buildings and smart cities, integrating solar technologies into buildings. Her research has been widely published in high-impact journals, including Energy, Applied Energy, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.

As a professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, Prof. Bushra is dedicated to teaching advanced subjects such as AI, Sustainable Parametric Urban Design, BIM, XR-based architectural design, simulation in the built environment, and integrated modeling and analysis of energy systems. She supervises student projects focused on sustainability, simulation, and emerging digital technologies in the AEC sector. She previously taught interdisciplinary master’s and bachelor’s courses at Technische Universität Berlin and contributed to the design and coordination of an international master’s program that emphasized interdisciplinary and cross-cultural education. In addition to her academic work, she brings hands-on experience from International Business Machines and several research institutions in Germany. She is an active peer reviewer for journals, and she mentors students at the intersection of engineering, sustainability, and digital innovation. Prof. Bushra’s vision is to accelerate the digital transformation of the construction industry by equipping future engineers with the skills and collaborative mindset necessary to create sustainable, intelligent, and integrated built environments.
