"The new degree program combines the field of construction with that of digitalization and computer science. Since I am interested in architecture but also like to work with digital methods, this new degree program was the right decision for me. The digitalization of the construction industry is set to advance, which is why this degree program - in my opinion - offers good opportunities for the future. However, I had to get used to learning a new language, the programming language, at first. On the other hand, I enjoyed creating my first 3D BIM models or CAD connections right from the start."

The buildings, neighborhoods and cities of the future are smart, connected, climate-neutral and think for themselves. As a digital designer and producer, you are at the center of this change and part of the digital transformation in construction. You can help shape the future of the smart connected city. With the acquired multidisciplinary skills and current knowledge from computer science, construction technology and architecture, you are well equipped to develop and apply creative solutions for the city of the future. Through you and the digital tools, the challenges of the future, such as urbanization, sustainability and increased efficiency, will be mastered in a more transparent, effective and targeted manner.
The main contents of the training can be summarized in these subject areas:
- Instruction of the digital process chain in the construction industry (Design, planning, implementation and conversion of construction projects)
- Industrial planning and manufacturing processes
- Conveyance of societal relevance and an understanding of sustainability and resources
- Building in partnership
The program is further characterised by these aspects:
- Digitization, AI and the world of work 4.0 as a guideline for all modules
- Strong basics skills and intensive specialization offers
- Occupational field-specific skills
- Strong internationality
- High thematic choices for students
- A good base for a future master’s course
The course is designed for seven semesters, the graduates receive the degree “Bachelor of Engineering”. The course of studies is divided into the phase of construction courses and digital basics (semester 1 to 4), the practical semester (semester 5) and the integral project phase (semester 6 to 7). In addition, an elective module from the field of general sciences is integrated. In order to promote the integral character of the vocational training, the three main subject categories run through the entire course of studies. At the beginning of the course, a larger proportion of construction-related content is conveyed, as the digital implementation is based on an understanding of fundamentals in architecture and civil-engineering.
A dual study model combines the advantages of a scientific degree with the advantages of vocational training or in-depth practical phases in companies. The dual study programs combine theory and practice in high quality dual study programs in such a way that students and companies benefit equally.

The "Digital.Design and Production" bachelor's degree aims to prepare students for the entire range of digitization in the construction sector. Due to different challenges, more complexity and the increasing demand for digitization, not only the demand for graduates is increasing, but also the requirements of courses are increasing. The study program takes this need into account and the changed the requirement profile accordingly.
Information about admission requirements
The program will be offered as full-time from the winter-semester 2022/23 with an upstream selection process, the target groups of the Bachelor course are:
- Entitled persons to study at a university
- Graduates from technical academies and technical schools with technical training courses and corresponding entry requirements.
- Prospective students with professional experience and university entrance qualification who want to develop and educate themselves.
