The b!st is the counseling center of the Augsburg Student Union and offers all students help with social, legal or psychological problems.

Art. 22 of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG) deals with gender equality at universities.

Universities are obliged to promote the actual implementation of equal rights for women and men and to take this into account as a guiding principle. They should eliminate existing disadvantages and give preference to women in the implementation of equal rights, whereby the priority of aptitude, ability and professional performance must be observed.

The aim is to increase the percentage of women at all levels of science and art. In addition, appropriate representation of women and men is to be ensured in all committees, including the university management, with the aim of achieving equal representation.

Representatives for equality of women in science and the arts are appointed to support the universities in the performance of their duties and to ensure that disadvantages are avoided.

These representatives have various participation and information rights and are entitled to appropriate resources to fulfill their duties.

The representatives for equality of women in science and art 

• represent women's interests in all university committees
• work towards increasing the percentage of women in professorships
• provide information on funding opportunities for female students
• provide information on career perspectives  for women
• organize events to teach and practice specific key qualifications (e.g. empowerment, salary negotiation, resilience) for female students 
• advise on discrimination and violence against women
• support and promote women-specific topics in teaching and practice

At universities in Bavaria, female professors, and sometimes also male professors, generally work as representatives for equal opportunities for women in science and the arts - both in the individual faculties and as central university representatives. They are elected for this office and carry out their work as part of their official duties.

The representatives for equality for women in science and the arts at Bavarian universities coordinate their activities at state level. In the State Conference of Women's and Equal Opportunities Officers at Bavarian Universities (LaKoF), they work together with the Equal Opportunities Officers for Women in Science and the Arts at all types of universities in Bavaria.

• they take a stand on issues of gender equality policy
• they suggest support measures for women in higher education
• they advocate for the special concerns of universities
