Central Student Advising Office
- The THA Central Student Advising Office advises and informs prospective students on all matters related to admission and the course of study, particularly regarding studies at the THA. We cannot make your choice of major for you, but we are happy to assist and guide you through the decision-making process.

Prospective students often face these and many other questions. Our tips on choosing a program provide some initial guidance:
Study Orientation Checklist – 10 Tips for Choosing a Program
- Start early and allow plenty of time: Choosing a degree program is a learning process.
- What do I actually want? And: Am I even capable of doing this? Get clear on your own motivation and strengths.
- Gather information about admission requirements, such as prerequisite internships, language tests, professional experience, admission quotas, etc.
- Don’t miss application deadlines! Check the dates on the university’s website.
- Take advantage of resources to help you choose a degree program: career aptitude tests, college fairs, information events, or academic advising.
- Actively engage with course content: Attend lectures in your desired degree program, review seminar materials, read through module handbooks, and take advantage of orientation days.
- Try before you commit! Complete an internship in your desired field. Parents, friends, and acquaintances can help connect you with a company. So be sure to take a look behind the scenes of a professional field!
- Clarify the financial details: the cost of college and how to finance it.
- Check out the college town. Do I feel at home in the city? Do I like the campus?

Before Starting Your Studies

If you’d like to experience a real lecture, get a taste of college life, and learn about some of the course material, just stop by THA—there’s no obligation. You don’t need to register to attend a lecture (unless you’re part of a group or a school class).
Your college education sets the course for your future career. That makes it all the more important, as you transition from high school to college, to figure out for yourself which field of study is truly the right fit for you. Our podcast series “Something to Do With...” is designed to help you with that.
Program for High School Students
Goal-oriented and gifted students starting in 11th grade can participate in regular courses as part of the early study program. They receive corresponding academic transcripts, which can be credited toward their degree requirements should they go on to study at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.
This program gives early-entry students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with degree programs and university life while still in high school, as well as to lay the foundation for their future studies.
These high school students can attend selected lectures offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Computer Science, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty of Business.
The early study program does not require enrollment; nor do these student-pupils have student status—they remain high school students and merely participate in courses.

The first point of contact for the Early Study Program is the Central Student Advising Office at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. There, interested high school students can obtain general information, application materials, and contact information for the respective department representatives. To attend courses at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, high school students must be excused from their regular classes by their respective school administration. No tuition fees are charged.
Interested high school students can apply for early admission to the THA for the winter semester by September 30 at the latest.
Once a year for prospective students and applicants
Our tried-and-true format for all prospective students, featuring a wide range of activities to learn, participate, and explore:

At the Academic Orientation Day, you can easily strike up a conversation with our students, professors, and advisors and get a feel for what it’s like to study at the Technical University of Augsburg.
A must-attend event for academic orientation—our Student Orientation Day (SOT) offers the perfect opportunity to learn about our academic programs, teaching methods, study conditions, campus, and the people at THA. We’ll show you what to expect here.
Once a year for students in 10th grade and above
Prospective (specialized) high school graduates have the opportunity to learn about our degree programs even before starting college.
During the summer semester (usually before the Pentecost break), the faculties at our university offer workshops, various lectures with hands-on sessions in representative fields of study, and an overview of the different degree programs and specializations available at THA.
Once a year for students in grades 7 through 9
Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg participates every year in Girls’ Day / Boys’ Day, the nationwide career exploration event. With support from the faculties, our university’s Women’s Office organizes a diverse program for students in grades 7 through 9.
Girls'Day
Girls’ Day offers girls the opportunity to gain insight into the practical aspects of technical and technology-related fields in the world of education and work.
Girls’Day has been successfully held nationwide every year since 2001. Participants include small and medium-sized craft businesses as well as large corporations, colleges, and universities.

Boys' Day
Girls’ Day at the university is also Boys’ Day. Faculties with a high proportion of female students offer their events to boys.
What We Offer
Every year on Girls' Day & Boys' Day, Augsburg University of Applied Sciences invites high school students to a diverse program of events. Under the motto “Hands-On Degree Programs,” young people gain insight into the wide range of disciplines offered at the university.

Junior Campus - Inspiring Children and Teens to Love Technology
The popular IT security event organized by THA_innos, the Institute for Innovative Security at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, kicks off every February and invites students from all over Bavaria to solve virtual IT puzzles and explore the topic of IT security in a fun and engaging way.
Students of all grade levels and school types are eligible to participate, and there is no cost to join. An interest in computer science and a willingness to tackle puzzles are key requirements. Essentially, the goal is to really dig into the challenges and discover just how much fun IT security topics can be.
Small groups and extracurricular clubs can also participate. Every year, several hundred participants register, including a large number of teams.
