About Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg
Creative—Meaningful—Shaping the Future

Connected and Globally Oriented
Innovative and dynamic, practice-oriented and forward-looking, regionally connected and globally oriented: Augsburg University of Applied Sciences is well-equipped for the journey ahead. It never loses sight of its ultimate goal: to equip its students with comprehensive subject knowledge, practical skills, and social competencies—always guided by its motto: Together, we shape the world!
Academic Programs and Teaching
Students from 70 countries receive a practice-oriented education at THA through approximately 50 bachelor’s, master’s, and continuing education programs, which prepare them for the challenges of an international job market while also focusing on the needs of the regional economy. The academic focus is built on four pillars: technology, business, design, and social sciences. Regional, national, and global challenges of our time play a major role in teaching and applied research.
Applied Research and Development
Across all seven faculties, THA researchers take on responsibility and develop solutions for critical issues of the future—ranging from energy-efficient planning and construction and autonomous driving, through artificial intelligence and social work, to data security, renewable energy, and the optimization of production processes. With the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship THA_funkenwerk, the THA ranks among Germany’s top universities for entrepreneurship.
THA has established two thematically focused research priorities that distinguish its specific research profile within Germany’s increasingly diverse higher education landscape: resource efficiency and digitalization in production and services. In addition, as part of its ongoing academic activities, the Technical University of Augsburg conducts research through various projects to find answers to the complex questions of our time, such as those addressed by the AI Production Network or the DATI pilot innovation community Circular Textiles.
