How do I get a library card?

The card costs a one-time fee of 5 EUR.

You can have a card issued during the following hours:

  • Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Optionally, you can fill out the registration form in advance and send it to bibliothek(at)tha.de. You’re also welcome to fill out the form on paper at the library.

To obtain a CCA, please bring the following with you:

We will then register you in our library system, and you will receive your CCA immediately.

To do so, please come to the THA library desk during the hours listed above with your Uni-CCA; you’re also welcome to bring a registration form that’s already been filled out. We’ll add your CCA to our library system and grant you access to the extended opening hours on your CCA.

FAQs on library use for non-students

You can access the Internet with your own mobile devices via the free @BayernWLAN. Use of this Wi-Fi network is free of charge and does not require a login; you simply need to accept the terms of use. There are no time or data volume limits.

If you belong to an institution that offers eduroam, you can also connect to the THA’s eduroam network using your institutional credentials.

However, access to the THA Library’s e-books and databases is not available via these Wi-Fi networks; please use a library computer for this purpose (sign in at the library desk to use a computer).

During the library’s staffed core hours, you can access the library’s e-books and databases on the computers on site. Please check in at the library desk. You can save many of the electronic resources as PDF files onto a USB drive and take them home with you.

In the evenings and on Saturdays, the library is open under the supervision of an external service provider. The computers cannot be used during these hours.

Free scanning is available using the Bookeye scanner, the flatbed scanner, or the ScanSnap.

Unfortunately, non-THA members are not permitted to use the printers and copiers.

Would you like to participate in our training sessions on research, citation, Citavi, Zotero, or thesis writing? Then please register with us via email. We will then send you the login information and materials. You can find the dates on our website.

Upon request, we also offer customized library orientation sessions for small groups (min. 5, max. 10 people)! Please let us know in your request why you’re reaching out and suggest 2–3 possible dates.

FAQs about the library card

No. You must register and pick up your library card in person at the library.

However, you are welcome to email us the completed registration form in advance. This will allow us to complete the registration process more quickly when you visit.

The CCA is initially valid for 2 years from the date of issuance.

After 2 years, the card will be temporarily deactivated (message: “IDM validity has expired”). To have your card’s validity extended free of charge, please contact us

If you do not renew the card, it will be permanently deactivated starting in the fourth year after issuance. If you wish to use the library again at that point, you will need a new card.

Yes, you can also have your THA Campus Card activated for the Augsburg University Library

To do so, please go to the information desk at the University’s Central Library (map) with your CCA and your ID card.

Yes. The Augsburg Campus Card, issued by the University of Augsburg (as a student ID, employee ID, or guest library card), can also be activated for use at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg library.

You can also use the CCA to pay at the student dining hall and cafeterias on the THA campus.

You’ll find machines for loading funds (cash or debit card) onto your CCA at the library counter. There’s also a machine there where you can withdraw your balance in coins.

If you do not use the CCA’s payment function for 2 years (no payments and/or top-ups), the function will be deactivated. It is not possible to reactivate the e-wallet after the statutory statute of limitations has expired. (See the Terms of Use posted at the machines.) If you have any questions, please contact the Augsburg Student Services (Studierendenwerk Augsburg) at cca(at)stw-a.de.

If you lose your THA CCA, please report it immediately to the library (in person, by phone at +49 (0)821/5586-3933, or by email at bibliothek(at)tha.de).

If you have lost your University of Augsburg CCA, please contact ZEBRA at the University of Augsburg. Once you receive a new card, you will need to have it reactivated at the university library.
