Alumni Interview with Maša Grahovac

After completing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, I worked in training support programs for apprentices in Munich. After moving to Augsburg for personal reasons, I also made a career change and became a specialist counselor for people with autism at a counseling center. This year, after my parental leave, I started a new position as an integration guide in the field of migration and integration.

When I decided to pursue this degree program, I had just started my new job in Augsburg and knew that I wouldn’t be able to apply what I learned directly in my work right away. But professional development has always been important to me—it allows me to exchange ideas with others, gain new insights, and potentially apply what I learn to my career in the future.

The program also touched on the topic of human resources, management, and development in one of its modules, and the knowledge I gained there inspired me to pursue further training in this field. From 2024 to 2025, I completed my continuing education to become a human resources specialist.

In my role as a specialist consultant, I was able to further develop our company’s onboarding process and create a concrete training plan, which allowed us to pass on existing knowledge to new hires in a structured way and make the onboarding process more efficient. In my current position, which I’ve held for only two months, my knowledge of project management is proving invaluable as I’m tasked with implementing a new project. I’m confident that in future roles, I’ll also apply other areas of knowledge from my studies, and that my degree will continue to open doors for me professionally.

Since the seminars were held on Fridays and weekends, it was easy to balance them with work. The same was true for my personal life, since seminars weren't held every weekend.
