With the following information, we would like to inform you about the processing of your personal data and the rights and claims to which you are entitled under data protection regulations, in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) effective as of May 25, 2018.

2. What sources and data do we use, and where do they come from?
We process personal data that we receive from prospective students, applicants, students, and participants in our other university-wide continuing education programs. Exactly which personal data this includes depends on the purpose of the processing (see Section 3) and is clearly indicated to you in the respective registration, application, or contact form. Typically (but not exclusively), this includes, for example, your name and contact information, as well as your billing address, details about your professional experience, academic history, etc., if you wish to participate in one of our continuing education programs.
3. Why do we process your data (purpose of processing) and on what legal basis?
a) Conducting the THA_akademie’s continuing education programs
When you register or apply to participate in our continuing education programs, we collect the necessary personal data from you in order to process and review your registration or application and, if applicable, subsequently enable you to participate in the respective continuing education program.
The legal basis for processing your personal data is Art. 42(4) of the Bavarian Higher Education Act (BayHSchG) if you wish to participate in a continuing education program, or Art. 6(1), sentence 1, letter b of the GDPR in the case of participation in our other continuing education programs (e.g., conferences, seminars, or similar events).
b) Contact requests from prospective students or individuals interested in our other continuing education programs
You can contact us via our contact form, the respective contact forms for the relevant continuing education program, or other communication channels if you have questions or need advice regarding our continuing education offerings. We then process the information you provide to respond to your inquiry or provide the advice you need. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1), first sentence, subparagraph (b), second alternative, of the GDPR.
c) Ongoing information about our continuing education programs and current events relevant to continuing education
We would like to continue informing our graduates and interested parties about the latest news regarding our continuing education programs and relevant events; therefore, with your consent (Article 6(1), first sentence, subparagraph (a) of the GDPR), we process your contact information as part of our mailing lists. This consent is voluntary and may be revoked by you at any time with future effect by sending an informal email to akademie@tha.de. We will then promptly delete your contact information from our mailing lists.
4. Who receives my data?
The THA_akademie staff members involved in fulfilling the respective purpose, the respective program coordinators, and the central administration of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, to the extent necessary for them to perform their duties (particularly in the case of enrollment or participation in other continuing education programs).
Where applicable, IT service providers may be authorized recipients of your personal data within the scope of the data processing agreements we have entered into. However, to ensure the security of our data processing systems, we do not disclose the identities of our service providers.
5. Is data transferred to a third country or to an international organization?
No.
6. How long will my data be stored?
Subject to applicable statutory retention periods, personal data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected or the legal basis for its processing no longer applies (e.g., due to the withdrawal of consent).
7. What data protection rights do I have?
Your rights under the GDPR
Right of Access, Art. 15 GDPR
If your personal data is being processed, you have the right to obtain information about the data stored regarding you (Art. 15 GDPR). This right also includes the right to receive a copy of your personal data that is being processed.
Right to Rectification, Art. 16 GDPR
If inaccurate or incomplete personal data is being processed, you have the right to have it rectified (Art. 16 GDPR).
Right to Erasure and Restriction of Processing, Articles 17 and 18 of the GDPR
If the legal requirements are met, you may request the erasure or restriction of processing (Articles 17 and 18 of the GDPR).
Right to Data Portability, Art. 20 GDPR
If the data processing is based on consent or a contract and is carried out using automated means, you have the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR).
Right to Object, Art. 21 GDPR
To the extent that the processing of your personal data is carried out to safeguard the legitimate interests of the controller pursuant to Art. 6(1)(e) or (f), you have the right, pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR, to object to the processing of your personal data, provided there are grounds arising from your particular situation or the objection is directed against direct marketing.

8. Miscellaneous Information Regarding Our Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time to ensure it always complies with current legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services in the Privacy Policy, e.g., when introducing new services.
