Secure Heterogeneous IoT Systems in Buildings and Neighborhoods
SHIQ (Secure Heterogeneous IoT Systems in Buildings and Neighborhoods) develops holistic security solutions for IoT systems in smart homes. The project covers the entire product lifecycle of smart home devices and takes into account the value chain of multiple manufacturers. In the long term, SHIQ aims to enhance IT security in smart buildings and neighborhoods, thereby setting new standards in the construction and real estate sectors. The goal is to improve security in building management systems and protect residents’ privacy.
Depending on the thematic focus, the research project is based at two different THA institutions:
- The Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering investigates the secure operation of IT and IoT platforms in smart buildings and develops approaches for low-threshold implementation and use.
- The Institute for Innovative Security develops concepts for the secure production of connected devices and evaluates them based on practical implementations.
