Prof. Dr. Burcu Güldür Erkal

Dr. Burcu Güldür Erkal is a professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg and specializes in structural engineering and digital design. She earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, where she focused on laser-based structural sensing and the detection of surface damage. Her research integrates artificial intelligence, machine learning, and 3D data processing to advance structural analysis, seismic risk assessment, and the condition assessment of infrastructure.

Dr. Güldür Erkal has led numerous interdisciplinary projects that have utilized UAV-based sensor technology, deep learning, and computer-aided modeling to improve structural safety and resilience. With extensive teaching experience in structural mechanics, AI-supported engineering methods, and digital design, she is committed to combining traditional principles of structural engineering with modern digital technologies.
