Library tour
We’ll guide you and your class through the library and show you the most important aspects of using the library (finding your way around, computers, self-check-out kiosks).
Duration of the event: approx. 30 minutes
A traditional introduction to the library meets Gamification
We’ll start with a short tour (about 15 minutes) of the facilities and then head to the training room for the theoretical introduction (about 30 minutes, depending on the desired scope). Topics may include:
- Library catalog
- Databases
- Open Access
- Research strategies
- Citing
- Reference management
- tailored to your areas of focus
Afterward, students can explore the library on their own using our LearningApps game and gain their first research experience (they may bring a USB drive to download the e-book). We’re available to answer questions and provide support as needed.
If students have a tablet, they’re welcome to bring it; otherwise, they can use their smartphone for the game. Free internet access is available via BayernWLAN. Students are also welcome to browse the shelves and use the beanbag chairs to read through books.

Practical experience instead of just boring theory
Your students will be placed in the role of actual employees at a company and will be asked to create a presentation for new employees to raise their awareness of a specific topic. To do this, they must draft a concept paper, undertake an authentic research task, extract relevant information, cite it correctly, and provide proper source citations.
Based on the topics you cover in your seminars, we’ll conduct this workshop together in several small groups. Participants will learn how to formulate specific questions, identify search terms, use those terms in research tools, and find appropriate sources. In a second step, students must learn to cite sources correctly and provide proper references. With the help of Zotero, they will learn to create a quick yet accurate bibliography. Our computers in the library’s training room will be available for this workshop.

This session can be preceded by a traditional library tour. This can be combined into a single event, or a separate date can be scheduled.

As a guest, you can access the databases licensed by the library using a computer in the library. To do so, please check in at the library desk. We recommend that you bring a USB drive with you to save the downloaded PDFs.
The following databases may be useful for your classes or lesson preparation:
- Springer Academic Publishing Portal: E-books and academic journals covering various subject areas, German- and English-language literature; full e-books can be downloaded as PDFs
- PressReader: Daily newspapers (including the *Augsburger Allgemeine*), lifestyle magazines, and tabloid press from around the world
However, there are many others where you can also find standards, laws, journal articles, images, and conference papers. A list of all databases can be found here.
