The Association for the Promotion of the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg e.V.

The Association for the Promotion of Augsburg University (Verein zur Förderung der Hochschule Augsburg e. V.) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing both moral and material support to Augsburg University in the education of its students and in its public relations efforts.

To provide students with the best possible support as they develop into responsible, committed, and sought-after professionals, a secure financial foundation is essential. However, this cannot be guaranteed by government funding alone. For many decades, the Association for the Promotion of Augsburg University (Verein zur Förderung der Hochschule Augsburg e. V.) has served as a key pillar of funding to ensure optimal conditions for studying.

Goals of the Friends Association

  • Providing moral and material support to Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in the education of its students
  • Support for student projects and initiatives
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships between Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and regional companies
  • Promoting exchange between academia and industry
  • Maintaining and expanding a community of supporters

Scope of Support Provided by the Friends Association

  • Germany Scholarship for Dedicated Students
  • Mobility support, e.g., for field trips
  • Prizes and awards for outstanding student achievements
  • University-sponsored events to foster relationships between students, alumni, professors, and representatives from the business community
  • Starkstrom e. V. – student research on electric mobility as part of the international “Formula Student” competition
  • Degree program and research projects

The Society of Friends of Augsburg's Universities supports Augsburg as a center of academic excellence as a whole, that is, both the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.

Foundation for the Support of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences

To mark the 50th anniversary of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in 2021, the THA Friends Association established a charitable foundation at HAUS DER STIFTER, the donor community of Stadtsparkasse Augsburg. All foundations are administered by Deutsche Stiftungstreuhand. Endowments and donations are accepted at any time, and it is also possible to establish named foundations under the umbrella of the endowment foundation.

Hans-Benedikt Foundation

The Hans-Benedikt Foundation was established on September 10, 2012, by Prof. Dr. h.c. Hans Ferdinand Benedikt, former president of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. It is an independent, nonprofit foundation with legal personality, headquartered in Augsburg. The foundation’s assets come from the estate of the founder, who passed away on October 15, 2012. The purpose of the foundation is to support Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and the Catholic University Community of Augsburg by promoting vocational education—including student aid—as well as religion and international awareness. In addition, the foundation presents annual awards as part of the THA Awards.
