Security Research in Augsburg

In line with Industry 4.0, industrial machines and systems are increasingly being networked with one another and with traditional IT systems—for example, to perform predictive maintenance or improve product quality. This gives rise to new challenges: the high degree of heterogeneity among the installed components, vendor-specific fieldbus communication, and software that is, in some cases, severely outdated. THA_innos conducts research in this area to determine how these complex challenges can be addressed—both technically and organizationally—even for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Secure software development spans the entire development lifecycle—from requirements analysis to maintenance. However, developers face several challenges in this area. Security reviews are often neglected when time is tight, secure coding rules are overlooked, and manual security testing is nearly impossible to perform when resources are scarce. THA_innos supports companies with appropriate processes and tools. These include automated security tests, training on secure coding, and continuous security monitoring. A special offering consists of targeted security scans for companies of all sizes, including SMEs. This allows vulnerabilities to be addressed early on, strengthens customer trust, and creates room for innovation.
