Tom Henkel and Adrian Ludwig are presenting their media art works at the lab.30 festival in Augsburg
10/29/2026

The lab.30 media art festival will take place in Augsburg from October 29 to November 1, 2026. Under this year’s theme, “Becoming”, the festival will explore the topics of change, artificial intelligence, and human creativity. Two graduates from the Faculty of Design at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (THA) will be participating: Tom Henkel and Adrian Ludwig.

Tom Henkel

A graduate of the bachelor program in Interactive Media, he presents his audiovisual installation “reality, by algorithm.” The work explores the influence of algorithmic recommendation systems on our perception and the digital public sphere. Through overlapping, semi-transparent projection surfaces and a specially composed soundscape, the invisible mechanisms of digital algorithms become spatially tangible.

Adrian Ludwig

A graduate of the master program in Interactive Media Systems, he is presenting the musical performance “Dialogue de l’ombre déformé” together with bassoonist Timm Kornelius. In the performance, an AI model engages in a musical dialogue with the bassoon. The artificial intelligence reacts to the instrument in real time, constantly reinventing their interplay.

Both works demonstrate, in different ways, how artistic design and digital technologies can be combined.

lab.30 will take place from October 29 to November 1, 2026, at Kulturhaus abraxas and other venues in Augsburg. The performance “Dialogue de l’ombre déformé” will take place on October 30 at 9:15 p.m. at St. Thaddäus.
