MATLAB Campus-Wide License (Campus License)
Augsburg University of Applied Sciences has a "Campus-Wide License" for MATLAB, Simulink, and supplementary toolboxes. This license allows faculty members (professors and adjunct professors), staff, and students at our university to use the included products for research, teaching, and academic studies, both on university-owned and personal devices.
The license is funded by the departments of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Business.
The license does not apply to the commercial use of MathWorks products.
You'll need a few things to install it:
- Your university email address
- A MathWorks account (free): You can find instructions here
- MATLAB software: Instructions can be found here
- A fast internet connection
- Activation Key: (annual activation required)
- For faculty and staff
- For students
MATLAB Portal
As part of the campus license, MathWorks has set up a MATLAB portal in the form of a website for our Augsburg University of Applied Sciences. This portal is designed to simplify license management (activation and installation) for end users.
The portal can be accessed at the following link:

- MATLAB & Simulink – Information on product features and applications
- MATLAB Examples – Application examples and a collection of free, reusable code
- MATLAB Grader – For creating and automatically grading course assignments
Additional MathWorks Products
The following MathWorks core products are also included in the campus license. If necessary, please contact the Computer Center to be added as an end user:
- RoadRunner: an interactive editor that allows you to design 3D scenes for simulating and testing automated driving systems.
- Polyspace: verifies the absence of critical runtime errors in your embedded C/C++ code using formal methods.
- MATLAB Parallel Server: Run computationally intensive MATLAB programs and Simulink models on a cluster or as batch jobs.
- MATLAB Web App Server: Host MATLAB apps and Simulink simulations as interactive web apps.
Annual Activation
The license period for an existing installation can be extended via the MATLAB GUI (Help button -> Licensing -> Update Current Licenses). The computer must be online to do this. Select the license and let the update run. Authentication is performed using your MathWorks account. For more information, click here.
