Empowering Women – Creating Opportunities

The Women's Office at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg is committed to equal opportunity and supports women throughout their academic careers—from choosing a major to becoming a professor.

Welcome to the Women's Office

The team at the Women's Office is committed to promoting women in higher education, academia, and their careers.

We support prospective students, female students, and female scholars, and we advocate for equal opportunities and diverse perspectives at the university.

Together with our partners, we develop programs, networks, and events that empower women on their academic and career paths.

The Women’s Office is part of the Office of the Commissioner for Gender Equality in Science and the Arts.

What do we offer?

Even as a high school student, you’ve come to the right place: Through our programs, such as Girls’ Day or the Women in Research Camp, you can get a taste of college life early on and learn about our degree programs.

We’re also here to support you as you begin your studies. Our Junior Mentoring program for first-semester female students offers guidance, opportunities for exchange, and support during your first few semesters.

We advise early-career female researchers on individual career paths in academia and higher education.

For our WomenGoTop mentoring program, we’re also looking for dedicated mentors from academia and the professional world who want to share their experiences with advanced-year students.

Learn About Gender Equality at THA

The THA views gender equality as a cross-cutting issue. There are many small components across all faculties and departments that are part of this effort.

Important Information

Funding through the Women Professors Program 2030

Our university has successfully applied for the BMFTR’s “Women Professors Program 2030.” As a result, it can receive funding for up to five years to establish three female professorships, and then use the freed-up funds to promote gender equality.

In this way, the ministry aims to achieve a twofold impact:

  • to increase the number of female professors in Germany and
  • strengthen gender equality structures at universities through specific measures.

Details on the gender equality initiatives planned at THA can be found in the attached “Gender Equality Concept for Parity at the University.” An overview of this concept is provided in the accompanying one-pager.
