FRITA – Fashion Revolution Map
Grant Period: May 1, 2026–October 31, 2027
Project Description
Current Situation
The volume of new fibers is growing steadily, while existing textiles rarely remain in circulation. Despite the EU Textile Strategy, services such as rental, upcycling, repair, and clothing swaps remain fragmented, limited to local areas, and structurally invisible to many people. Yet a representative survey conducted by Fashion Revolution Germany e.V. in 2025 shows that 20 percent of German consumers would regularly use ReUse services—if access, infrastructure, and guidance were available.
Project Goals
The project team is developing and refining the digital, scalable platform “Fashion Revolution Map,” which makes circular textile consumption services in Germany visible. It brings together reuse, repair, exchange, rental, and upcycling in one place, connects relevant stakeholders, and engages users in an accessible way. In this way, the project contributes to reducing new purchases, implementing the EU Textile Strategy, and developing scalable approaches to circular textile consumption.
Approach
First, the project team researches consumption patterns and examines what motivates people to use circular and resource-efficient textile consumption options—or what deters them from doing so. Building on this, participatory methods and insights from behavioral research are incorporated into the development of the digital, scalable infrastructure. Pilot implementations of the platform and a targeted evaluation ultimately lay the groundwork for the rollout, for open-access publications, and for policy recommendations.
