TEXWI – Effective Knowledge Transfer on Sustainable Textiles & the Circular Economy
Grant Period: January 1, 2026–June 30, 2027
Project Description
Current Situation
To date, existing knowledge about the environmental and social impacts of the textile industry has led only to limited actual changes in behavior. There is a lack of effective educational and communication formats that would significantly improve this transfer of knowledge.
Project Objectives
The project team is investigating how complex topics such as the circular economy and the R-strategies—using the example of “water consumption along the textile value chain”—can be communicated in a way that is understandable, accessible, and motivating. To this end, it is designing, testing, and evaluating target-group-specific approaches for both businesses (B2B) and consumers as well as opinion leaders (B2C). A key outcome will be a bimodal digital platform that serves both target groups.
Approach
In addition to traditional learning materials, the project team relies on gamification elements, interactive microgames, and blended learning formats. The ITA Academy is testing B2B transfer strategies for businesses, while the ELLSI learning lab at THA is implementing the interactive platform as an experimental learning space and researching the effectiveness of innovative learning formats; meanwhile, Drip by Drip e.V. is testing digital microformats and social media campaigns for B2C knowledge transfer to a broad public.
