Business Psychology (B.Sc.)
The Interplay Between Psychology and Economics
Students in the Business Psychology program are prepared for a wide range of career paths in work, organizational, human resources, and market psychology. They receive an introduction to key foundational disciplines in psychology as well as business psychology, learning how people think, feel, and act; what motivates them; and how they perceive, process information, and learn. The program also covers how to apply psychological assessment, what social cognition is, and the significance of groups and the social environment for people. The program takes into account the changing requirements for business psychologists and prepares them for the challenges of the “Work 4.0” environment. These include the digital transformation of the workplace, the potential of big data in market research and recruitment, and the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in personalized learning and human-machine collaboration. Another focus is on shaping social interaction and fostering diversity in practice, as well as the transformation toward resilient organizations, whether for-profit or nonprofit.

FAQ
The Business Psychology program has a numerus clausus. The NC score is always the cutoff grade of the last admitted applicant and is recalculated for each admission period. Previous years’ figures are provided for reference only. You can find all information regarding the Numerus Clausus (including NC tables) at: https://www.hs-augsburg.de/Bewerbung/NC-Bachelorstudiengaenge.html
Yes, even higher semesters have admission restrictions.
The program consists of courses in the areas of psychological fundamentals, applied psychology, fundamentals of economics, methodological foundations, data analytics, and key competencies. The program places a strong emphasis on psychology-related courses (psychological fundamentals and applied psychology).
The courses use a wide variety of assessment formats (e.g., written exams, presentations, term papers, etc.). The type of assessment is determined primarily by pedagogical considerations. Assessments are often completed individually, but in some courses you will also complete them in (small) groups. For more information on assessments, please refer to the module handbook and the academic and examination regulations.
The program is designed as an on-campus program and therefore cannot be completed entirely online. At the same time, there is no general attendance requirement. Attendance is recommended only for certain courses, such as the Business English modules or the modules on research methods.
The program is intended to be a full-time program.
The program is a Bachelor of Science degree, meaning it is not a technical program but rather a natural sciences program. The natural sciences component is very prominent. This refers to both the mathematical and psychological content.
The program includes the following mathematics modules: Business Mathematics, Data Analysis I, and Data Analysis II. There are also other academic modules that require students to be comfortable working with large amounts of data. Students will continue to encounter mathematical content in the later semesters as well. Therefore, a solid foundation in mathematics is very helpful. However, the exams are manageable with good preparation.
Before beginning the program, the “Startklar” program offers students the opportunity to brush up on certain foundational subjects—including mathematics—prior to starting their studies.
