Über uns, Fakultät für Elektrotechnik der Technischen Hochschule Augsburg
About Us As the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, we make technology accessible, promote innovation, and combine it with a sense of responsibility toward people and the environment. In doing so, we prioritize not only a sustainable approach but also a holistic one. Thus, our work doesn’t begin with undergraduate studies; we also offer programs for schools, collaborate with companies, and are actively involved in application-oriented research. This page provides an overview. From Vision to Mission We prepare individuals who want to shape the future with technology through knowledge, creativity, and curiosity—rooted in the region, connected globally, and making a difference in society. To this end, we combine hands-on instruction with applied research and work closely with companies, schools, and partners. Our students learn to solve complex challenges systematically and creatively, from their first semester through their doctoral studies. We promote intercultural exchange, support startups, and create learning environments where technical excellence and personal development go hand in hand. As the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, we embody openness, team spirit, and a culture of learning and experimentation. With respect, transparency, and the courage to embrace new ideas, we create an environment where diversity, responsibility, and the joy of shared success form the foundation for innovation. This is how we shape technology that drives sustainable progress for the future. School We think about technology right from the start! We offer a variety of programs for schools and teachers: from professional development workshops and field trips for teachers, participation in university-wide events such as the annual Girls’ Day or the College Open House, to our own school outreach program titled “Engineers Shape Our World,” where students can explore the diversity of engineering through hands-on STEM activity stations. College At the heart of our work, of course, is the education of our students in high-quality degree programs in the field of engineering. We focus primarily on the needs of regional industrial companies. As a result, our bachelor’s and master programs are the top choice for future engineers from the Augsburg region. However, our academic offerings are also attractive beyond the region. We award our spots to qualified students, whom we support on their path to successfully completing their degrees. Practice We collaborate with industrial companies, startups, academic partners, associations, and the broader community to shape the future together. As part of this, we also support startup ventures. All of our degree programs can be pursued through a dual-track or work-integrated learning format: Whether it’s a combined study program (a degree program with integrated vocational training) or a program with in-depth practical experience (intensive practical phases during semester breaks and the practical study semester)—at our university, students will find the study model that suits them best. Companies and prospective students can find more detailed information on the following pages: Research The Faculty of Electrical Engineering focuses on application-oriented research. We conduct research to offer state-of-the-art instruction, support academic qualification through doctoral programs, and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology. In doing so, we address future-oriented topics at the intersection of people and technology: from autonomous driving to the production of the future—utilizing (collaborative) robotics and artificial intelligence—through the energy transition and communications, all the way to the healthcare sector.
