Born in Kansas City, Missouri (USA), Alisa Kasle-Henke came to Germany to spend an exchange year in Freiburg im Breisgau as part of her studies at the University of Vermont. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and German Studies, she first worked as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant in Vienna, Austria, for one year before beginning a master’s program at the University of Paderborn in three subjects: American Studies, Modern German Literature, and Social Sciences. While studying in Paderborn, she taught English communication courses both at the university and at companies such as Siemens-Nixdorf. After graduating from Paderborn, she spent three years in Berlin, where she held a position at Humboldt University and also worked as a freelance instructor.
