Private Directory

A personal file directory is automatically created on the university's central servers using your user ID. There, you can securely store your personal data and access it from various devices.

Please use the provided storage space responsibly and regularly delete files you no longer need.

Currently, there is no fixed storage limit. However, in the interest of all users, only files that are actually needed should be stored.

You can access your directory from anywhere in the world using any Internet-enabled device via the SFTP, SCP, or SSH protocols.

Server address

login.rz.hs-augsburg.de

To do so, log in using your personal RZ ID in a compatible program.

Note

For security reasons, connecting via the unencrypted FTP protocol is no longer possible.

Automatic Mounting

On the university’s Windows computers that use central user login, the home directory is usually mounted automatically as drive Z:.

Manually Mounting a Network Drive

If the drive is not automatically available:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Select “Map Network Drive.”
  3. Enter the following address: \\rzhome.hs-augsburg.de\username

The username must be entered in the following format: benutzername@rz.hs-augsburg.de

Note

If you are outside the university network, you must first establish a VPN connection.

In addition, local firewalls may block access to network drives. In this case, check your firewall settings.

Helpful Guides

If you encounter problems connecting to the network drive, you can find more information here:

On many of the university's computers running Linux, Solaris, or macOS, the home directory is automatically mounted after you log in.

Backup Intervals
