Semester Projects: Digital Infrastructure + Monitoring
Infrastructure such as bridges, transportation routes, and energy facilities are central components of our built environment. As many structures age, monitoring and maintaining them is becoming increasingly important. Digital technologies are opening up new possibilities for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating condition data.

The projects in this area focus on digital twins, drone technology, artificial intelligence, and automated data analysis. The goal is to monitor structures more efficiently and detect damage at an early stage.
Drones capture high-resolution image data, AI systems automatically identify damage, and digital models enable a structured evaluation of the results. This creates new tools for planning inspection and maintenance measures.
The potential of multimodal data analysis is particularly evident here. Image information, point clouds, geometric analyses, and sensor data are combined to generate the most comprehensive picture possible of a structure’s condition. This creates digital decision-making foundations that go far beyond traditional visual inspections.
These projects demonstrate how modern data analysis and AI methods can contribute to a safer, more sustainable, and more cost-effective infrastructure in the future.
