Dual-Track and Work-Integrated Study Programs
Would you like a more practice-oriented approach—in other words, to link theory and practice even more closely?
Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg offers you various study models:
Combined study programs (academic study + vocational training) and degree programs with in-depth practical experience (academic study + intensive practical phases).
Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg’s practice-integrated degree programs are dual-accredited and can be pursued as dual programs. These degree programs offer a more intensive integration of academic content for dual-track students.
Practice-integrated degree programs can be pursued as programs with in-depth practical experience or as combined study programs; however, they are not recognized as dual-track programs by the Accreditation Council Foundation.

Combined Degree Program
A combined degree program is a combination of academic study and vocational training that begins in a training setting before the start of the degree program and concludes with the journeyman’s examination. Examples of trades requiring vocational training include:
in the practice-integrated degree program in Electrical Enigneering and Information Technology:
- Electronics Technician for Energy and Building Technology
- Systems Electronics Technician
- Electronics Technician for Devices and Systems
- Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering
In the practice-integrated degree program in Mechatronics:
- Mechatronics Technician
in the work-integrated International Management and Engineering program:
- Industrial Business Administrator
In the combined study program, you’ll study while completing an apprenticeship (leading to an IHK/HWK certification) at a company of your choice. You’ll start with a 3- or 3.5-year vocational apprenticeship at the company, and after about 14 months, you’ll begin your first semester of study at the same time.
A Degree Program with an Emphasis on Practical Experience
In the program with an in-depth practical component, intensive practical phases at a company are integrated into the coursework. The intensive practical training takes place during semester breaks and the practical study semester. This program begins every semester.
