Yes, you can also pursue a dual degree program at THA. We offer two options: the cooperative degree program and the degree program with in-depth practical training. With a dual degree program, you combine the benefits of an academic degree with those of vocational training or in-depth practical training phases at a company.

Audit students are very welcome at THA! They may attend various lectures but are not eligible to take exams. There is a fee for participation, which varies based on the number of weekly class hours per semester. You are required to complete a basic internship in the following bachelor programs:

• Architecture
• Civil Engineering
• Energy Efficient Planning and Building (E2D)
• Digital.Design and Production
• Social Work (B.A.)

Ideally, you should have completed the basic internship before starting your degree program—that is, by the start of the semester. However, in accordance with the provisions of the applicable syllabus and examination regulations, you may also complete it in several parts before and during your studies.

Yes, in some cases, you can be exempted from the basic internship. This is possible depending on your vocational training program and the degree program you plan to pursue. We've summarized more details for you in our guidelines and in the directory of vocational training programs.

Applications are submitted online during the respective application period.

You must specify whether you are applying for a program with limited enrollment (NC program), a program with no enrollment restrictions, or a program with an aptitude assessment process. You must also specify whether you are applying for the first semester or a subsequent semester.

a) I would like to apply for the first semester in a program with limited admission

Admission to these degree programs for the first semester is handled exclusively through the Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV) of the Foundation for University Admissions. In addition, you must apply via the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg portal (HisInOne).
 

b) I would like to apply for the first semester of a program with open admission or for a higher semester (whether with restricted or open admission)

In this case, the application is not submitted via hochschulstart.de but solely through the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg portal.
 

c) I would like to apply for a program with restricted admission in both the first and a higher academic semester, or to apply for a program with restricted admission and, at the same time, for a program with unrestricted admission

In this case, you must first complete the online registration at hochschulstart.de and submit your application for the restricted-admission degree program in the first semester. In the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg application portal, you then add the application for the higher semester or for the program with unrestricted admission.
 

d) I would like to apply for a degree program with an aptitude assessment process

In this case, you do not apply via hochschulstart.de but exclusively through the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg portal. If you are also applying for a program with restricted admission, you must first complete the online registration at hochschulstart.de and submit your application for the program with restricted admission (only if applying for the first semester). You will then add your application for the degree program with an aptitude assessment to the university’s application portal.

The application process for the master programs is handled exclusively through the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg application portal.

The application process at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg is entirely digital. You fill out the application form online, submit it, and upload the required documents to the THA online application portal. Please note that all application documents must be uploaded by the application deadline. It is not necessary to send the application by mail.

Application deadlines vary by degree program. Generally, there is an application period in the spring/summer for students starting the following winter semester and an application period in the fall/winter for students starting the following summer semester.

Generally, you'll need the following documents to apply to THA:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• If you have a foreign high school diploma, you’ll also need an officially certified translation and the preliminary review documentation (VPD) from uni-assist.ev or the Bavarian Certificate Recognition Office
• For Master’s applications, you’ll also need your bachelor’s degree or university diploma
• Resume in table format / form
• Copy of ID card / passport
• If available: Certificate of completion of mandatory service (e.g., military service, Federal Voluntary Service)
• For admission based on professional qualifications: Proof of completed vocational training, work experience, and the counseling interview
• Transcript of grades when applying for a higher semester
• If applicable, consent from legal guardians for minors / form

Please note that for Master’s program applications, additional application materials must be submitted (such as a statement of purpose or samples of your work). Please refer to the website of the respective master program for more information.

Any authority of the Federal Republic of Germany (e.g., district administration office, municipal or city administration) or of the European Union that bears an official seal may issue an official certification. Notaries and parish offices may also issue certifications. If a document consists of multiple pages, each page must bear a certification note, or the pages must be stamped consecutively. Certifications issued by banks, savings banks, health insurance companies, etc., cannot be accepted.

For applications for a spot in a bachelor’s program: All transcripts and supporting documents need to be submitted only once.

For applications to a master’s program: All transcripts and supporting documents must be submitted with each application.

If you have not yet received your university entrance qualification, or your master craftsman’s certificate or apprenticeship certificate, by June 15 or July 15, respectively, you must submit them by July 27 at the latest. This applies only if you are earning or have earned your certificate in the same year that you plan to begin your studies. Provisional certificates will not be accepted. 

The documents must be uploaded to the online portal by the deadline. Unfortunately, it is not possible to submit your documents by mail or in person.

Exception: If you earn your university entrance qualification at an evening high school, an institute for obtaining a university entrance qualification (Kolleg), at a Studienkolleg at universities in Bavaria, or through a gifted student exam or by passing theexam or final exam in a Bavarian university degree program, or through exams at vocational academies—and have not yet received them by July 27, an extension may be granted upon request, but no later than July 31.

The foreign student quota includes foreign and stateless applicants who are not nationals of a member state of the European Union (EU) and who did not obtain their university entrance qualification (Abitur) in the Federal Republic of Germany. EU nationals are treated the same as German applicants for admission purposes. This also applies to non-EU nationals who have obtained their university entrance qualification in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Please be sure to note the subject restriction listed on your certificate of recognition or preliminary review documentation. In some cases, this may be limited to certain fields of study or even to specific degree programs. For example, if your subject restriction applies to economics programs, you cannot enroll in a technical program (mechanical engineering, computer science, etc.). Prospective students from the People’s Republic of China, Vietnam, India, and Mongolia must submit the APS certificate from the Academic Evaluation Center to uni-assist as part of their preliminary examination documentation (VPD), in addition to proof of their foreign educational background.

We will try to process your application as quickly as possible. Despite our online application process, your documents will be reviewed individually by our staff members or by the relevant colleagues in the respective faculties.

Experience has shown that the university receives the majority of applications near the deadline. Due to the large number of applications, processing may therefore take some time.

Please note that you are responsible for ensuring your application materials are received by the deadline.

Once your application has been processed, any missing documents will be displayed in the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg online application portal.

An exceptional hardship exists when specific social or family circumstances related to the applicant personally make it absolutely necessary to begin studies immediately. This means that, due to these personal circumstances, delaying the start of studies—even by just one semester—would be unreasonable (e.g., due to illness).

The hardship case application consists of an informal written request as well as a medical certificate or other documentation substantiating the hardship case. All supporting documents must be included with the application. Hardship cases are subject to strict criteria and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The waiting period includes all semesters that have elapsed between obtaining a high school diploma and beginning a degree program at a German university. Time spent studying at German universities does not count toward the waiting period. This means that these periods are not included in the calculation of the waiting period. In addition, only full semesters can be taken into account. The waiting period is calculated automatically and does not require a separate application.

When allocating college admissions spots, the grade point average is a key selection criterion. Therefore, any factors that prevented you from achieving a higher grade point average while earning your high school diploma should be taken into account. If you can provide evidence of such factors and their impact, you may, under certain conditions, be considered in the admissions process with an improved grade point average.

By submitting an informal written request for an improved grade point average, you can cite circumstances that prevented you from achieving a higher grade point average or from obtaining your high school diploma earlier.

To have your grade or waiting period adjusted, please submit a school report from the school that awarded your high school diploma to the Student Affairs Office by July 27 at the latest. In some cases, a medical certificate may also be required.

A special admission quota is established for individuals who are in the public interest and who require special consideration or support. This group includes competitive and youth athletes who rely on local training facilities, as well as those who perform volunteer work (e.g., in the volunteer fire department).

You may apply for priority admission if you were already admitted to the same degree program the previous year but were unable to begin your studies due to military or civilian service (e.g., military or civilian service, or a voluntary social or environmental service year) or because you began vocational training as part of a combined study program.

In this case, please upload the admission letter from the previous year, as well as any relevant supporting documentation, along with your application materials via the online portal.

The student registration process between health insurance providers and the university is conducted exclusively electronically.

Minors may apply for a place at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg with the consent of their legal guardian(s). To do so, the applicant and their legal guardian(s) must complete the following document and upload it to the application portal.

Please note that the legal guardian’s consent must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office no later than the date of enrollment.

You are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program at THA and have applied for a master’s program at the same university. Do you need to re-enroll as a bachelor’s student, even if you plan to start a master’s program next semester?

It is recommended that you re-enroll in your bachelor’s program, especially if you cannot accurately estimate whether you will actually complete your bachelor’s degree by the deadlines of March 14 or September 30.

If you are admitted to your desired master program, enroll in the new program at the same time. You do not have to pay the semester tuition, the Student Services fee, or the semester ticket fee twice.
