How can I get a taste of the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering?

What is the Startfenster program?
Since the 2023–24 winter semester, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg (THA) has been offering the Startfenster. The program is aimed at prospective students with university entrance qualifications who are still unsure whether they want to pursue a degree at all or are looking for the right degree program. During this orientation year, young people can explore and try out various career paths.
“Startfenster” is a full-time program that spans two semesters. Participants have student status and the opportunity to attend courses from various faculties and get to know university life. Almost all degree programs have made their course schedules from the first semesters of their bachelor programs available and have jointly created a catalog of courses for students to “get a taste” of. Further information is available in a dedicated Moodle course. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering also publishes its own additional courses for “Startfenster” students on this page.
Students have the option to voluntarily take exams in the courses they attend. They can later have the results credited toward a regular degree program at any German university, provided the content requirements are met.
Exploring and weighing various career options
During the “Startfenster” year, students receive counseling at the THA’s Central Student Advising Office and also receive information on alternative career paths, such as vocational training. To this end, the THA collaborates with the Chamber of Crafts for Swabia and the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Upon completion of the program, participants can apply for the degree program that most appeals to them—or choose a different career path. When applying for a spot in a degree program, “Startfenster” students must go through the regular application process, including any admission restrictions.

How do I apply for the Startfenster program?
Application for the Startfenster Program
The Startfenster Program begins each winter semester. The application period runs annually from May 2 through August 31, unless otherwise specified on the website.
For regular degree programs, the deadlines published on the application pages apply.
