Proof of German Language Proficiency
We do not accept all language proficiency certificates. You can find a list on the Office of Student Affairs website. We'd be happy to advise you.
What language proficiency requirement is needed?
Recognized German Language Exams
- Citizens of countries other than the Federal Republic of Germany must provide proof of the German language proficiency required for their program of study by July 27 of the application year at the latest, provided that such proficiency is specified for the relevant program in the table below.
- Proof of the required language proficiency is provided by submitting a certificate from one of the German language exams listed below.
The following language certificates are recognized by the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg as proof of sufficient German language proficiency at the B2 level
- DSH (German Language Test for University Admission of Foreign Applicants) – Level 1 or higher
- TestDaF Level 3 or higher
- Certificate of the placement exam at a Studienkolleg (German section)
- Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education – Level II (DSD II)
- Goethe Certificate C2
- telc German C1 University Certificate
The following language certificates are recognized by the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg as proof of sufficient German language proficiency at the B2/C1 level
- DSH (German Language Test for University Admission of Foreign Applicants) – Level 2 or higher
- TestDaF Level – all sections passed with a score of at least 15 points
- Certificate of the placement exam at a Studienkolleg (German section)
- Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education – Level II (DSD II)
- Goethe Certificate C2
- telc German C1 University Certificate
The following language certificates are recognized by the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg as proof of sufficient German language proficiency at the C1 level
- DSH (German Language Examination for University Admission of Foreign Applicants) – Level 2 or higher; for the master program in Taxation and Accounting, at least Level 3
- TestDaF – all sections passed with a minimum score of 16 points; for the master program in Taxation and Accounting, a minimum of 20 points
- Certificate of the placement exam at a preparatory college (German section)
- Language diploma from the Conference of Ministers of Education – Level II (DSD II)
- Goethe Certificate C2
- telc German C1 University Certificate
For applicants from German-speaking countries outside Germany, the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg decides on the acceptance of language proficiency on a case-by-case basis.
Important: Goethe B2 and telc B2 (Beruf) are not accepted.
