"Near and Far" Architecture Lectures to Begin in the 2026–27 Winter Semester

After a hiatus of several years, the “Architecture Lectures” series is returning to the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg. Under the title “Near and Far,” the series will bring together renowned architects, recent award winners, and experts from the fields of research, professional practice, and building culture during the 2026–27 winter semester.

This lecture series invites students, faculty, experts, and the interested public to come together to discuss architecture, the culture of renovation, sustainability, and the future of construction. It consists of three events:

Gesche Bengtsson – On Time

The series kicks off on October 14, 2026, with a lecture by Gesche Bengtsson from the Munich-based firm etal. ArchitektInnen. This young firm is currently one of the most exciting voices on the German architecture scene and was honored with an award at the 2025 German Architecture Prize for, among other projects, the multigenerational housing complex on Görzer Straße in Munich.

Opening of the Thomas Wechs Prize Exhibition

On November 11, 2026, the focus will be on the opening of the Thomas Wechs Prize exhibition. In collaboration with the BDA Schwaben, award-winning projects and current trends in regional architectural culture will be presented. In conjunction with the exhibition, the award-winning firms Groß / Kreft / Schropp and Alpstein Architektur will speak about their work and their architectural approaches. The Thomas Wechs Prize is regarded as a major award for contemporary architecture in Swabia.

Peter Grundmann – Condensing Reality

The series concludes on December 16, 2026, with Peter Grundmann Architektur from Berlin. Peter Grundmann received the 2026 DAM Prize for the expansion of the ZK/U Center for Art and Urbanism in Berlin and will speak about current issues related to ongoing construction, transformation, and public space.
