Changing Majors and Universities

If you are applying simultaneously for your first semester and a higher semester in the same or a different bachelor program, you must first complete the online registration at hochschulstart.de and submit your application for the first semester through the university’s application portal. You can then attach your application for a higher semester to your application in the university’s application portal.

Admissions Process for Bachelor Programs with Admission Restrictions (First Semester)

If you are planning to change universities or degree programs, be sure to check with a student advising office to confirm whether admission to THA is possible and whether you can continue your studies seamlessly.

If you are applying to multiple degree programs for higher semesters, you must rank your preferences.

Regardless of this, applications for admission to the winter semester must be submitted online to the Student Secretariat (Department of Student Affairs) at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg by July 15 of each year, and applications for the summer semester by January 15 of each year.

In addition to the documents required on the application form, you must include the following with your application:

• A current transcript issued by the registrar’s office of your previous institution (if you completed prior studies abroad, include an officially certified grade scale)
• Application for recognition of academic achievements
• A list of coursework expected to be completed by the time of the intended transfer
• Information and proof of the semesters of study completed to date
• Specification and proof of your current academic semester at your previous university
• Course descriptions or module handbook for all modules with ECTS credits from the previous degree program (if prior studies were completed abroad, include an officially certified translation)
• Resume, including details of your secondary education and academic history to date
• Statement explaining why a transfer to the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg is planned
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proof of professional work experience prior to beginning your studies
• If the applicant has already been de-registered, a current confirmation from the registrar’s office of the current institution stating that no proceedings are pending that could result in the applicant having definitively failed the program (e.g., an ongoing appeal process) 
• Statement and proof of the total number of ECTS credits earned to date

The relevant examination board for a degree program decides on the transfer of academic credits. Periods of study, coursework, and examination results from other institutions or when changing degree programs will be credited provided equivalence is established. This is the case if these periods and achievements correspond in content and scope to the current degree program at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg.

Only the ECTS credits awarded for the respective courses and modules as specified in the syllabus and examination regulations of the respective degree program will be recognized.
